La Maison à Pondalez
A timber-framed house dating from the 1st quarter of the 16th century, classified as a Historic Monument, the Maison à Pondalez has one of the two best-preserved Pondalez staircases in Morlaix.
A monumental granite fireplace and a spiral staircase with wooden passageways form part of a vast central space. These features make these houses a specifically Morlaix style.
This corbelled house is a remarkable reminder of the golden age of the town of Morlaix. Enriched by the linen trade, the noble merchants were responsible for this architectural model, which is unique in the world.
The Musée de Morlaix is presenting an exhibition at the Maison à Pondalez entitled “Morlaix, le lin, la fibre du négoce”, from the collections of the Musée de Morlaix.
New exhibition in 2026: Dilasser – Between earth and sky
The works of François Dilasser are part of this everyday place: paintings on the walls of a house, respecting the specificity of its architecture.
The title Entre terre et ciel (Between Earth and Sky) evokes both the climb upstairs from the ground floor, and an essential part of Dilasser’s work, between allusions to landscape (the grid on which the painting in the Musée des Jacobins is based, the Garden series) and the cosmic imagination (Stars, Planets).
