Le Musée Maritime de Carantec

Morlaix Bay has a rich and vibrant maritime history. Generations of families of fishermen, oyster farmers, recreational boaters and boat builders have lived here. Through the lens of boats – whether for work, leisure or adventure – the Carantec-Baie de Morlaix Maritime Museum’s exhibition explores these human stories.

3) Pleasure craft: The Cormoran, Sailing schools, Yachting, Regattas, Shipyards

Discover the Aboukir Bay exhibition, a journey into the heart of the Morlaix Bay Natura 2000 site, featuring:
– Artefacts recovered from the wreck of the Alcide
– An exhibition on oyster farming
– Shipbuilding in Carantec since the Revolution
– Seaweed harvesting in Callot
– The de Gaulle family’s time in Carantec in 1940
– 297 people recorded as having left Morlaix Bay for England between June 1940 and February 1944
