Le Musée Rural de Guimaëc
THE RURAL MUSEUM OF GUIMAËC
The museum welcomes you and your family to Guimaëc in north Finistère. It’s a unique, authentic and friendly place. Take a trip back in time to a rural commune before the 1960s.
More than 2,000 objects retrace rural life in the first half of the 20th century.
The tour is guided by enthusiasts who share their memories and knowledge with visitors.
It’s a world without electricity, smartphones, TV or cars, and it’s something for today’s children to discover.
TEMPORARY EXHIBITION :
– April to June –
“Rural treasures: Guimaëc’s small and large heritage”.
Have you heard of the C’hole brizh, the strange bull that haunts the countryside at night? The exhibition tells you all about this myth, as well as legends about mermaids and dragons, or the warlike adventures of the Lords of Tremedern in the Middle Ages, from Guimaëc to Paris, from Brest to Belgium…
Manor houses, fountains, wash-houses, chapels, houses, crosses, toponymy, plants, but also the traces left by the ancient inhabitants of prehistoric times…
This temporary exhibition tells all this and more!
